      Feature FICTION Films

           8-year-old   Billie leans on her vivid imagination, and her loyal best friend Sherry, to   unravel the web of secrets shrouding her mother’s true identity. Believing   that her mother is a ballerina icon, Billie stops at nothing to try to find   her. As Billie delves deeper into the mysteries of her family’s past, she   begins to question the true intentions of the ones closest to her — her   grandma and dad. Billie must decide whether to embrace her imperfect family   or continue living in the comfort of their secrets.    

           A couple   of journalists fight to remain true to themselves despite the repressions in   suffocating Belarus after the protests of 2020. The film is inspired by the   real life of a young journalist,   Katsiaryna Andreyeva, who is currently serving her 8 years sentence in a   Belarusian prison.    

           Brittany's   Town has unanimously decided to accept Ukrainian refugees in exchange for   government subsidies. However, instead of seeing Ukrainians arrive, they now   see Syrian migrants, which has caused some conflicts    

      When their father passes away leaving a large sum of money in the bank, two sisters put their differences aside and join forces against Sharia law, according to which their brother has the right to take double what they are entitled to.

          Flora, a young journalist of Austrian-Albanian  origin, works with an European Media visits her homeland to produce a feature   on Mother Teresa. She was grown as the daughter of the enemy and she never   knew her father poet who was killed by the communist regime. But soon she   will face the surprise of her own identity, the clash of two times,   yesterday’s and nowadays’. A knock at her door will change her life., when Zigur,  an ex-agent of the secret police, tells her a different truth. 

           Stripped   from the right to exist, shunned by love and rejected by society’s norms and   expectation, 23-year-old Shams must live in the shadows steeped in secrecy   and an unimaginable pain. Fearing   shame and ridicule, Shams’s mother never registers him/her in the public   records due to being born with both genitalia. Living in Shams’s world means to abandon   one’s identity in order for them to survive in this harsh and closed-minded   society. 

           Former   martial artist Sarah leaves Austria to train three sisters from a wealthy   family in the Middle East. What sounds initially like a dream job soon   becomes unsettling: the young women are cut off from the outside world and   under constant surveillance. Sport doesn’t seem to interest them. So why has   Sarah been hired?    

                Through   a kaleidoscopic collage of stories, made by filmmakers and actors from around   the world, EVERYTHING… is a collaborative narrative film that explores the   current moment we are living in and how the Covid pandemic, economic   inequality, climate change, wars, migration and societal divisions shape our   lives globally. These international stories coalesce in a film-within-a-film,   set in New York City, about two disaffected millennials, creating this   project, trying to make sense of the world and their place in it, while   dealing with their own issues and contradictions.

The family is   irreparably shaken on the day the sister gets stuck in the swamp due to an   unfortunate accident.   Based on a   true story In 2014, the story of   Karina Chikitova, a 4-year-old girl from distant Yakutia, shocked the whole   world. A baby living in a remote village once mysteriously disappeared, along   with her dog Naida. Without warm clothes and shoes, Karina and her dog   wandered in the impassable taiga full of insects and wild animals, without   water and food. The girl was missed only after 3 days.      

              "The   Wound" is a powerful and poignant drama that explores the complexities   of culture, tradition, and personal identity in the backdrop of contemporary   Morocco. This deeply moving film tells the story of Leila, a young woman who   finds herself torn between her heart's desires and the expectations placed   upon her by society and her family. As the story unfolds, the film highlights   the pervasive influence of cultural norms, the struggles faced by women in   society, and the profound impact of personal choices on individuals and their   loved ones.   

             Aida,   member of the contemporary dance troupe ‘Without Borders’ touring Morocco,   provokes during a representation in a small Middle Atlas town, her life and   stage partner Hedi, who injures her onstage triggering a series of events   through a long night across a forest, on the way to the next village’s   doctor.    

           Lebanon,   1949. The country faces an imminent war. Two Catholic brothers, Emilie and   Emir, embark on a trip to Brazil. During the trip, Emilie falls in love with   a Muslim merchant, Omar. Emir suffers from uncontrollable jealousy and will   use their religious differences to separate them. Before reaching his final   destination, during a fight with Omar, Emir is seriously injured in a gun   accident. Emilie's only option is to go down to an indigenous village in the   middle of the jungle to find a healer to save him. When her brother recovers,   they head to Manaus, where Emilie makes a decision that will lead to tragic   consequences. “PORTRAY OF A CERTAIN ORIENTE” is a film about memory, passion   and prejudice that reveals the saga of Lebanese immigrants in the Brazilian   Amazon forest.    

           A  coming-of-age drama in the 80s and 90s Jeddah about an unlikely friendship   between a Saudi girl and her Sudanese driver.     

            On a   full moon night, the young Najwa and the musician Mansour reach Beirut. They   follow the trail of smugglers to join a woman on the other side of the sea. A   few streets away, Selim, the old lighthouse keeper, tries to repair the   electricity of his neighborhood.     

      Feature Documentary Films

           Between   Cairo and Dubai, Samar (32) tries to rebuild her life after an acid attack by   her ex-partner. The film captures 5 years of her mental & physical   healing journey through helping another woman(Sanaa) who was subjected to acid.    

        This film tells the story of six Burrneshas who, for different reasons,   have decided to take on the social role of men. They have done this to   circumvent patriarchal structures, to avoid misogynistic attacks, to support   the family economically, to avoid compelled marriage and to be free. Our   characters communicate with us intimately as they talk about their lives and   bring us closely into their personal journey. 

             This is   a story about two sisters who have decided to fight against the unfortunate   fate that has befallen them in Afghanistan. They protest against the loss of   their basic rights, including the right to education, work, clothing, and   even the right to walking alone. Now, these two sisters are striving to make   their voices heard to the world and fight for their rights against the Taliban."     

            Seven  Basque women, guided by a therapist gradually put their bodies into motion.   As the dance therapy progresses, they give us the moving testimonies of the   physical and psychological tortures that they underwent during their   incommunicado detention, in Spain in the 2000s.    

           Set   during the Lebanese revolution, WE NEVER LEFT portrays a heart-wrenching   duality between Beirut and New York, an impassioned testament to the Lebanese   diaspora’s unrequited but irrepressible love for their homeland.    

             Angie  (34) takes her father Mansour (74) on a roadtrip from Brussels to Beirut by   car in an attempt to retrace the same path he took 42 years ago. However, the   route is no longer the same, and neither is their relationship.  

       Addressing   the effects of war and displacement, How Have You Been? is a moving portrait   depicting the day-to-day life of the filmmaker’s grandmother in the Lebanese   mountains.    

                Inad, a   sixty-year-old Syrian refugee in Lebanon, decides to resist fate and rise up   against injustice, so he begins searching for land to bury Syrians in the   Bekaa. Helping him in his mission is Sobhie, a forty-year-old Lebanese woman,   the daughter of a clan sheikh, who one day opened her son’s grave to bury a   Syrian child whose family could not find a place to bury him. An almost   impossible task in a difficult time. Will he be able to achieve his goal   while his children are trying to escape into the sea?    

      After more than a decade, Farah returns home to Tripoli, Lebanon, to care for her   aging widowed father, Mustapha only to find her city in crisis. Their   generational differences often lead to clashing perspectives on the country’s   political instability, making it difficult to communicate with each other.   But within this lack of understanding there’s humor and a will to   understand. 

      In late 2023, during the war on Gaza, 18 Lebanese filmmakers came together to express their feelings through letters they exchanged and turned into short films. The work on these films was completed in late May 2024, without them realizing that the full-scale aggression was heading their way, making Lebanon the next target for destruction.

      Short Fiction Films

                A man’s   fixation on a fleeting lover consumes him, distorting his reality and pushing   him to confront the emotional scars she leaves behind—blurring the line   between desire and self-destruction.    

                  At a   home gathering, a Chinese woman who has recently moved to the United States   to live with her daughter tries to keep her daughter's secrets from her new   friends.    

             Throughout   a night out in downtown Tijuana, Laura waits for her destiny to arrive.     

           Zahra is   a film about a worker in a clothing factory, pregnant in the last days, finds   herself in need of money to have a C-section delivery, which leads her to   discover the tragic existence in a community of individuality.    

            Three   friends: Reem, her boyfriend Rami, and their close friend Nadine, spend a day   at the beach. Reem and Rami dive into the water, laughing and splashing   around, while Nadine, on her period, stays on the sand, soaking up the sun.   After some time, Nadine decides to join them in the water. However, her   attempt turns sour when Rami playfully pushes her into the water, catching   her off guard and escalating underlying tensions. 

                 Elsa, 12   years old, meets her Algerian grandfather for the first time... and discovers   that her mother has been hiding a significant part of her identity from her.    

           A   beekeeper’s son, who once committed a desperate crime to heal his father’s   illness—stealing a single lemon in a failed attempt—walks free after fifteen   years in prison. Now an adult, he sets off on a two-day journey home, where   the past lingers in every shadow and the present feels colder than he   imagined. Along the way, memories resurface, the world feels both familiar   and strange, and the road ahead holds more than just distance.    

               Late at   night in a Malaysian camp, a group of female trainees on duty are urgently   summoned. One trainee, allegedly possessed by a ghost, accuses them of   breaking the rules by leaving "dirty things" in the toilet. The   instructor sternly orders them to clean it up by midnight. These girls, from   different faiths, are placed in the same living space, and the boundaries of   mutual respect start to blur, with their strained harmony on the verge of   collapse. They are pressured to undertake a gruesome midnight cleanup.    

       As her   husband takes over the preparations for their daughter's engagement ceremony,   an unhappy Muslim housewife hides in her bathroom and drinks vodka.    

      Elie is   troubled by the many sacrifices his father made in the past to ensure him a   better life. But maybe their love of music and Elie’s recent encounter with a   young woman by the name of Elsa might help them both find ways to reconnect.    

      Amid the  unrest and protests in Syria, numerous people were arbitrarily arrested,   including women, men, and even children. The situation for women in these prisons was particularly tragic. They   were often treated inhumanely, viewed as sexual objects, and abused. This story is based on the experiences of a   21-year-old woman who still doesn't understand why she was arrested. For a   year, she was daily abused, raped, and humiliated. She recounts her   horrifying experiences and the loss of her identity. 

           Teresa,   a single mother spends a day at the beach with her six-year-old son, Benji   and her sister Marga, who is back to Portugal for a summer vacation. The day   becomes very stressful with her sister's constant speech about her son's   achievements and her criticisms towards Benji.    

      Marianne   meets Julia in Paris in November 2023. Julia is seven years old; she has a   Palestinian mother and films her daily life with a camcorder. Her images   blend with Marianne's to tell the story of a childhood that tries to remain   carefree under the weight of violence experienced from a distance    

       Inci's   mother is dead. That day, while maundering in the deserted plateaus of the   Black Sea, the young Inci meets Zeynep (30). Back in the region after a long   absence, Zeynep carries a bulky black bag. Even if they are total strangers,   Inci and Zeynep join their solitude for a while, wandering over the foggy and   sunny mountains, from one father to the other, from dawn to darkness.      

            After fleeing his privileged but stifling life, young Gabriel finds himself in a   remote village, desperate enough to steal canned food. His clumsy attempt is   interrupted by Ward, a charming older Lebanese woman who offers him shelter.   Taken aback by her suspicious kindness, Gabriel decides to rob her but finds   himself sticking around longer than expected. As days stretch into weeks,   their interactions give way to an unusual connection.  

            Mila  struggles as she remains unpaid at work and a love interest becomes a source   of comfort through his constant phone calls. But a promise of hope may also   lead to tragedy and sad love songs.    

           Foreigner  David arrives in Lebanon with the sole purpose of telling a story. After   getting lost in a faraway village, he is taken in by a family that could   change the course of his plans.    

            On this  hot summer day, 17-year-old Nayla is faced with the same dilemma every   Lebanese youngster is faced with today – to leave or to stay. Two men in her   life have set ideas about it, but both might wake up to a surprise.    

        YAEL is   at the beginning of puberty and is searching for his own identity between his   virile big brother and his queer best friend AARON. In the process, he not   only questions himself, but also endangers his friendship with Aaron.     

             Facing   their imminent separation, Elias and Christiane dive into their memories for   one final goodbye.      

             Determined   to have her first kiss, Loulwa defies her tumultuous world in search of   normalcy. As she braves the streets of Beirut in pursuit of her sexual   awakening, she finds herself taking an instant leap into adulthood when her   world erupts into a redefined "normal". Ebb & flow is the recipient of the   inaugural Sundance Uprise Grant 2021, the Doha Film Institute 2021 production   grant, the ReelChange music composition grant from New Music USA, in addition   to the Black Family and Riese production grants at the NYU Tisch School of   the Arts. The film was also supported by The Future of Film is Female, and   Cedrona.        

        In this poignant story, 17-year-old Duna invites her friends to her beach house for a fun-filled day. However, a tragic event unfolds when Salwa, a less close friend, drowns while kayaking. Duna witnesses the horrifying incident up close, leaving her in a state of shock and guilt. The trauma deeply affects Duna, causing her to struggle with denial and hopelessness. Years later, Duna musters the courage to return to the beach with her younger sister. Initially hesitant to enter the water due to her traumatic past, Duna eventually finds the strength to teach her sister how to swim. This act becomes a turning point for Duna, as she confronts her fear and begins to heal. Through this experience, Duna learns the importance of resilience and finding meaning in life after enduring tragedy. 

      In a  dystopian future, where everyone meets their death at 25. Tracy has a chance   to extend her life, but to do so, she must defeat an unknown opponent in the ring.    

      Short Documentary Films

           Embodying   the dreams and poetics of a post-Soviet generation, two young Armenian women   share their politics of justice and feminism with the world through their   music.     

       Following   an emotional crisis, the painter Vincent van Gogh spent a year in a monastery   in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence dedicated to the care of the mentally ill. During   this year he painted many of his most famous paintings. The monastery is   still there and it is still a psychiatric hospital, today receiving   exclusively female patients. They are offered a range of artistic therapies,   and many of them spend their days like Vincent – painting. In the year he spent in Saint-Rémy, Vincent   wrote many letters to his brother Theo and his sister Wil. In this film, the   current patients reply to his letters. They write about their experience of the place, about what they share with Vincent, and about how they find   consolation in their paintings and in nature.     

         "Behind   the Filter" addresses a critical and often overlooked aspect of modern   society: the impact of social media and societal expectations on the   self-image and well-being of women. In recent years, there has been a surge   in discussions surrounding body positivity and mental health awareness, this   documentary seeks to fill that gap by shedding light on the unique challenges   faced by women during their life. 

      Egyptian  filmmaker Yasmina El Kamaly reflects on her family’s matrilineal history by   examining her relationship with her mother, as well as the complicated bond   between her mother and grandmother. Using journals, home videos and letters,   she locates their longing for affection and the dysfunctional ways they go   about getting it—offering and rebuffing attention, smothering and straining   love—as the root.    

           The   theft of a motorcycle triggers a journalistic investigation where the   authorities cooperate little when confronting the usual suspects. Adolfo Enríquez Vanderkam, a social   activist in Guanajuato, joins the search, before getting snuffed, leaving   social justice in silence.    

       Maggy,   63, packs boxes in a large luxurious house. Time has come to leave her golden   prison, where she has lived for years under the yoke of her ex-husband. He'd   promised a Dolce Vita, but owned her life as he owned the walls of the house.   Now the children are grown, and Maggy has received a court order to go away.   She has never worked , she has no right to anything.    

                An 81   years old woman had to flee her home as Hezbollah and Israel bomb around   her. In the midst of war between   Israel and Hezbollah, Nouhad an 81 years old woman had to leave everything   behind to seek refuge as they bomb around her. She has a hard time talking   about the human tragedies, but the thing she talks about most is her olive   orchard, a symbol of resilience in the middle of chaos. But when white   phosphorus rains down, burning her beloved grove, Nouhad is forced to   confront the brutal reality of loss once more. Haunted by the orchard's   history, marked by displacement and invasion, Nouhad stands at a crossroads.   

         A woman’s journey towards liberation and healing through recollections of her younger self.  Synopsis:  The sequences of a personal diary, highlighting the child-adult evolution, accompany the viewer on a journey marked by uncertainty, helplessness and self-doubt, which eventually lead to escape. The video-poem oscillates between poetry and documentary, emphasizing a woman’s struggle to free herself from repression and regain her voice and strength.

           Five   years have passed, and I still don’t recognise myself. Where did the happy   girl who hadn’t yet discovered the world disappear to? A girl who didn’t know   any better than to fall in love with the mysterious older boy. A girl that   didn’t know that this boy would come to change her entire life. An essay documentary film that follows   four girls’ retellings about psychological and physical violence during their   first relationships, which has caused deep scars. We get to experience -   through dance, interviews, and location shots from their common hometown -   how it is to return to a place where their lives changed forever.     

                A short   film about the invisibility of domestic violence. Whilst watching Super8   films about her seemingly idyllic German family life in the 1960s, the   director’s grandmother Rose describes the reality of life with a violent   husband.     

        Three   women talk about the difficulty they have in recovering from their last   breakup.    

       The  Resilience of the Poppy dives into Lebanon’s stand-up comedy scene, where   laughter is a survival mechanism, despite a backdrop of war. Through the   sharp wit of comedians like Wissam Kamal, Chaker Bou Abdalla, John Achkar,   Stephanie Ghalbouni, and Mohamad Baalbaki, the documentary reveals how humor   empowers Lebanese people to confront their toughest challenges. It’s a   compelling story of resilience, where every joke becomes a tool to push back   against hardship and keep hope alive, showcasing Lebanon’s unbreakable   spirit.

       Random   encounters in Ivry's cemetery make our memories resonate. As the director   engages with those who've come to pay their respects to their loved ones,   their words echo the loss of her father, who was a painter. Slowly, sketches   and watercolors blend with the environment of the cemetery.    

      Are   events cyclical? Does history repeat itself? Through the director’s eyes, we   follow Lebanese photographer Nadim, street artist Roula and the director’s   Syrian flatmate Haifa as they discuss being alive in Lebanon nowadays.    

      Short Animation Films

                A girl   called Elena finds after a long time the notebook of her maternal   grandmother, Laura. She flips through it for the first time and through those   pages she sees her grandmother's life again. Once she reaches the end, Elena   recalls a childhood episode in which Laura had revealed to her that if one   has a great desire it must be confided to the paper of a notebook to make it   come true. As a child she had believed that story and immediately had done   so. Now 25 years old, Elena no longer remembers her past wish but now has a   new one, to remember Laura.    

                  Stop   motion documentary that takes a positive look at menopause. While different   women confide how they experienced this natural and important passage in   their lives, a female character tames her new environment and welcomes new   ways of perceiving and projecting her femininity.    

                   A storm   is brewing next door. Mr. L'espérance hopes to breathe a little sweetness   into her life by making her a gift. As he works, the old man is assailed by a   flood of resurfacing memories. Images and sounds jostle in his head,   deconstructing and amalgamating to form never-before-seen images. He relives   snatches of his childhood as a sailor's son.    

         A   beautiful lady is immersed in the world of puppet creation. One night, the   looming evil hand tied her up as a living puppet and forced her to watch a   dark and hopeless stage play. The desire to struggle and escape arose inside   and outside the stage.    

         We meet   a young woman with tousled hair and sleepy eyes, who goes through her daily   morning routine check in the mirror. She notices a thin long hair on her chin   and tries to pluck it. To her great dislike, the hair stretches out and   becomes longer instead of yielding to the tweezers. She becomes more and more   desperate, and resorts to stronger and stronger tools, but the hair remains   stubbornly stuck, and grows longer for each attempt to remove it. But after a   moment of dark hopelessness, she gets a brilliant idea.     

           FOCKY   is an animated allegory navigating pregnancy, exploring the connection   between a mother and her unborn child. Set in a melancholic and enchanting   world, the film beautifully captures the essence of love, and the poignant   nature of loss.     

       What is   truly pleasurable is in the simple. Plazer bat is a succession of ordinary   actions and situations that are a source of pleasure. How little is needed to   feel good!         

       Humans   live their routines inside a village floating in the sky. What happens when   one of them causes the world to end?     

      The year is 1969. In the magnificent landscapes of Al Ula, Saudi Arabia, a tiny mosquito named Zozo has big dreams that set her apart from her buzzing companions. While her fellow mosquitoes are content with their usual routines, Zozo yearns for something more: she dreams of becoming a singer. And not just any singer! She wants to be as famous as Um Kulthum.      

      Short Experimental Films

                      A   mysterious fish woman flees from her exploiters who keep her in a fish tank.   Out in the real world she witnesses how society views her kind and returns   her fish tank so that she can be consumed as society dictates.    

                        A   Palestinian mother-to-be in the Netherlands grapples with emotional and   physical challenges during pregnancy. Through intimate reflections, she   confronts pain, uncertainty, fear of bodily changes, and an identity crisis,   all while challenging societal norms around motherhood. Torn between her   personal struggles and the devastation in Gaza, she feels guilt and shame,   questioning her right to feel pain and wrestling with her privilege while   others endure unimaginable suffering.    

           An   incomplete family album and a series of street-found photographs lead the   author on an introspective journey, unveiling the way her passion for   cinematography is passed down from father to daughter.     

      A   depressed woman finds she can no longer endure life. In a desperate attempt   to cure her malaise, she embarks on an expedition along Sydney’s oldest   motorway.     

       Living in seclusion and despair, a carpenter   tries to escape his misery by fitting himself inside his handmade sofa in   order to get himself out of his workshop and live vicariously in a hotel café   but ends up in a famous writer’s house about whom he has been obsessing for a   while    

       As the   silence of the world envelops her, a single note strikes the strings,   initiating a symphony of self-discovery. "Zaxme" narrates the tale   of a woman confronting her inner self, embarking on a profound journey   ignited by love. A voyage to transcend doubts and uncertainties, ultimately   attaining salvation.    

            In  search of inspiration, a writer dives into the unknown waters of the Cerrado   to unravel the mysteries surrounding the sirens, perceived as threatening   monsters and victims of rampant overfishing. Defying the unknown and   determined to uncover hidden truths, she grants an interview that weaves an   engaging suspense, challenging the boundaries between reality and the   folklore of this narrative.    

      Dance Films

                            Drawing   from various forms of expression, from line drawing through collage,   patchwork, and cartoons, "Historiae vivae" revives the unique   atmosphere of silent cinema. It is permeated with the warmth exuded by body   language, yet simultaneously surreal due to its black-and-white   tonality—these are the "splinters of everyday life" that allow us   to embark on a journey through time. This journey takes us back to the   origins of cinema, captivating us with the use of historical filmmaking methods,   stylish frames, and the characteristic text boards seen in black-and-white   films. 

                creation is timeless.. Commissioned by English Heritage and   National Youth Ballet, Beyond The Plaques is a dance film inspired by the   lives of four female Pioneers; sculptor Eleanor Coade, author Frances Burney,   poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and astronomer Annie Maunder. These women's   overlooked achievements provoke a contemporary response from four young   female artists, weaving themes of cultural ephemerality, societal expectations   of women, and exploration amidst isolation. The film celebrates endeavour and creativity, highlighting the   enduring need to amplify the voices of women in history, as we venture Beyond   their Plaques. 

                             "The  Elevator Dance (For Elisa) Remix" is a re-enactment and a radical   reinterpretation of the infamous Elisa Lam elevator surveillance video. On February 13, 2013, the Los Angeles   Police Department released surveillance footage of a missing young woman. The   footage showed Elisa Lam in a hotel elevator behaving strangely. This was her   last known sighting. It was an instant internet sensation and was seen by 3   million people in China alone. The unsettling video prompted one person to   write, "I'm so scared, I'm shaking. I'm numb." Her body was found on February 19, and the   circumstances surrounding her death are still shrouded in mystery. Rather than trying to solve the mystery of   her death, this film is meant to be a celebration of her life. Her unusual   moves have been reimagined into a dance where her spirit is set free.    

           Vision   of the future or images from a parallel universe? In breathtaking natural   sceneries, automated industrial landscapes and deserted ruins, a journey   through time and living spaces unfolds. Strange LUVOS beings from Editta   Braun's body illusion theatre conquer the screen to Thierry Zaboitzeff's   powerful and sensitive music.    

           “In our  neighborhood, lives a rooster. In our neighborhood, lives a sadist slaying   rooster!" Based on Nizar   Qabbani’s poem Al Deek (The Rooster), and created as a response to Beirut   August 4th explosion, this dance creation experiments with the Baladi form to   portray the journey of a dictator. The   film grapples with the dark side of power through the story of an innocent   childhood’s rise to power, their relationship with the feminine and how this   always leads to inevitable downfall.     

           SOMBER  TIDES a cry from the species, startled into survival against the elements.   One last breath before being trampled by the Earth or maybe conversely a   battle to wage against winds and tides clutching on before extinction.      

       Noora is   a dance short film that follows Noora's movement. She is a dancer. Her body's   impulses are generated in the moment from contact with different   environments. Noora has congenital bone fragility, Osteogenesis Imperfecta.   She uses a wheelchair as a dancing aid and in it, she can move widely, but   feels isolated from the surrounding environment. She is searching ways to   move, focusing on possibilities rather than on limitations. 

            "MARIBOR,   YUGO MANCHESTER" is a captivating dance short-film that takes the   audience on an immersive journey through the evolution of the city's   industry, rise, and fall in Maribor (Slovenia) during the 20th century.   Through mesmerizing choreography and powerful storytelling, the film unravels   the transformation of Maribor from an industrial powerhouse to a cultural   gem. Each dance sequence illuminates key historical events that shaped the   city's identity, celebrating its triumphs, resilience, and exploring the   impact of the changing industrial landscape. 

      Her Story Special Category

           Faced   with an opportunity for a life abroad yet weighed down by a desire to connect   with her father, Nour struggles in the aftermath of her decision to leave,   while Jean conceals the whirlwind of emotions inside of him. As the clock   ticks towards her last days in Lebanon, she attempts, for what feels like the   last time, to face him and ultimately, herself.    

           “Quell”   is a visual and emotional exploration of the beauty and depth found in the   blending of nature and the human spirit. The film follows the transformative   journey of a single droplet as it navigates through five layers of a woman's   personality, intertwining the essence of nature with the complexities of   human emotion.    

           Joanna   who has lived an entire lifetime in a country without officially belonging.   Her continuous displacement has her longing for the sense of home. The   upcoming expiration of her student visa forces the emotional turmoil of   leaving behind a life that was never officially hers.    

           Sara, a   twenty-year-old veiled woman, fills her diary with stories she hears from   people in cafes, recording them on her voice recorder. One day, she overhears   a story about Mariam, a waitress at her regular cafe, allegedly stealing   money with the help of a young man named Jad.

           After an   incident shoves her into the spotlight, an aspiring actress now has to take   on the hardest role of her life; the role of an aspiring actress.     

           Anas, a   comic sketch artist in his late twenties, confronts grief for the first time   following the loss of a cherished individual. This profound event propels him   into an emotional rollercoaster, compelling him to navigate a transformative   journey where he must confront the harsh realities of life. Will he find   closure?    

           Mayroun,   a young Lebanese woman, has to participate in the traditions of Good Friday   while waiting to know about the status of her immigrant brother who is lost   at sea.    

           A young   photographer attempts to capture her subject who only exists between the   shadows. This documentary unfolds as a   poetic exploration of identity, weaving through the relationships and spaces   that shape the subject's existence    

      Wanting   a better life for herself and her child, Amani decides to flee Lebanon. Her   journey unravels impossible choices and sacrifices only a Mother can make.    

           Under   the Ashes is a story about a middle-class Lebanese family. The story occurs   on August 4th, 2020, a tragic day for every Lebanese soul and family. Through   the perspective of the mother, Maya Karam- the nation’s economic challenges,   dysfunctionality within a patriarchal family system, and loss and grief will   be explored.    

           At 14   years old, Zinia discreetly steals the spare keys of her own house, after her   parents decide to sell it subsequently to a murder of three family members.   Today at 21 Zinia uses these keys as a healing tool to her and her Family.    

           Betrayal   shatters trust, plunging a once radiant world into complete isolation. This   film delves into the life of a woman who is haunted by her past and depicts   the severity of her traumas that have left unseen scars in her.
